It is an amazingly relaxing therapy which uses a steady stream of warm medicated oils (Tail Dhara) or medicated buttermilk (Takra Dhara) using special devices to flow rhythmically across the forehead. This is usually done after Abhyangam. This therapy provides considerable relief from mental stress & psychosomatic disorders. It soothes your body and mind & induces sound sleep.

Face Massage

The classical method of facial massage and detoxification is done by using herbalized creams and astringent individualized according to body type. The massage component focuses on the Marma points of the face, neck, and shoulders which re-invigorates the tissues and refreshes the senses. It combines with face herbal steam therapy and the application of herbal face mask according to body type and skin type.

This is a relaxing and revitalizing therapy, improves tone and luster of skin. Facial massage when done with head massage gives excellent results.

Siro Abhyanga

Shiro Abhyanga is a Sanskrit term comprised of two words: Shiro (head) and Abhyanga (massage). Shiro Abhyanga essentially means a complete massage of the head, neck, and shoulders using Ayurvedic herbal oils. These are the areas that are most affected by stress, which is why Shiro Abhyanga is beneficial in reducing pain and stress in these regions.

It is a soothing massage of the head, neck & shoulder for 30 minutes using warm herbal oils.

Navara Face Treatment

Navara facial is a procedure where the face is massaged with medicated Navara paste. Navara is a type of rice that is rich in the husk and hence has a great effect in healing chapped and blemished skin by removing the outermost dead cell layer. The paste is used for massaging the face.

The benefits of the Navara facial is the milk and other ingredients act as a good cleanser, the rice is a good scrubber and at the same time nourishes the skin leaving the skin soft and glowing at the end of the therapy. Navara facial is very beneficial in acne vulgaris, hyperpigmentation, dull and blemished skin.

 

Njavara Kizhi

Shashtika Shali Pinda Swedam

Navara in Malayalam stands for the rice (Shashtika Shali in Sanskrit) that grows in 60 days; Kizhi (Pinda in Sanskrit) stands for bolus. Njavara is an indigenous variety of rice grown in Kerala, having medicinal properties. It is a unique treatment procedure practised by Kerala Ayurveda physicians.

Procedure

A generous amount of medicated oil is applied over the head and body. Then the body is massaged with a warm muslin bag bolus containing Navara rice puddings cooked in the herbal decoction. The boluses are dipped in the mixture of warm milk and herbal decoctions when they cool down thus inducing sedation.

Ksheer Dhara

When this treatment is done with milk (Ksheera), it is called Ksheeradhara. It is performed in seven standard massage positions in Kerala and lasts approximately 40 minutes. Decoctions made of various herbs will be added to the milk. Ksheeradhara is of two types – shirodhara and sarvangadhara.

While Shirodhara is carried out for the head, Sarvangadhara covers the whole body except the head. Ksheeradhara is effective in the treatment of hypertension, depression, anxiety, insomnia etc. Dhara with medicated milk is called Ksheeradhara.

Decoctions of various herbs are added to the milk. Ksheeradhara my be either for the head alone –Shirodhara. Or for the whole body except the head- Sarvangadhara. A Sravana Ksheeradhra is usually prescribed for diseases caused by disorders of the Pitta. As a first step, a suitable type of oil is applied to the head. At least three attendants, two to pour the fluid and another to refill the vessels are required.

The treatment is conducted while the patient goes through the standard seven positions. A nozzled pitcher is ideal for pouring the milk.
